What’s involved
Assess calling requirements, user numbers, locations, network readiness, and existing telephony. Design and configure a cloud-hosted or on-premises IP PBX or supported unified communications platform, including extensions, IP desk phones, softphones, voicemail, transfers, ring groups, call queues, business hours, and automated attendant menus. Configure SIP trunk connectivity and coordinate number transfers and service activation with the chosen telephone provider. Plan remote and branch calling, supported platform integrations, and appropriate access controls and calling restrictions. Design dedicated voice VLANs to separate telephony from general data traffic, with controlled access between networks and appropriate Quality of Service policies. Check bandwidth, traffic priorities, and call quality; test agreed call flows and recovery behavior. Plan migration, documentation, user training, and ongoing support within the agreed scope.
What you receive
A telephony design and extension plan; configured calling platform, endpoints, and agreed call flows; provider connection and migration records; call quality and access test results; administrator documentation, user guides, and an agreed handover and support plan. Telephone numbers, subscriptions, equipment, and provider services are identified separately in the agreed scope.
When it helps
When replacing an existing business phone system, introducing cloud calling, connecting multiple locations, enabling remote staff, or resolving recurring call quality and administration problems.
Planning your enterprise service
Enterprise projects need clear ownership, controlled changes, and a design that reflects business dependencies. We work with your IT stakeholders to define the operational requirements before recommending or implementing changes.
- Confirm the platforms, device types, locations, and peak patterns of use.
- Distinguish network issues from endpoint, room-system, subscription, and application responsibilities.
Agreeing the scope and handover
Delivery can include assessment, design, implementation, optimization, or ongoing support. The scope, access arrangements, delivery location, responsibilities, and timescales are agreed for each engagement.
IN PRACTICE
A real-world example
Replace separate office phone systems with a supported shared calling platform. Set up departmental extensions, reception call routing, voicemail, and remote softphones; coordinate number transfers with the provider, test calls at each location, and train staff before completing the migration.
